9th January 1795 "Sir on or about the 17th of October last a man by the name Saml. Spooner with his family moved into this neighbourhood for the purpose of keeping school for the winter to whom I have a small house standing on my farm,as he has not been fortunate enough to give the people satisfaction in that capacity, the indigent state of his circumstances may possibly oblige him to become troublesome to the Town for the means of existance, therefore (as I am informed the law requires it) I take this oppty. as the man does not belong to this town to give you the above information as one of the selectmen of the town and am sir yours Josias Brownell" |
